Hello and thank you for stopping by my photography website

Photography was always fun for me, even as a kid. Though it wasn’t called that then, I started with photography at a young age. My father had a camera (the Agilux Agifold) and I was allowed to hold it occasionally; press the button when told to. Until now, I have no idea when or how I owned my first camera. I remember taking black and white photos of animals and landscapes I was 11 years old. Fortunately, other interests also flourished during my childhood, such as roaming through nature with my dog, racing with my ‘easy-rider’ (moped), learning the martial art of judo, the military service and eventually my first permanent job, where I became acquainted with computers. This heralded a new era for me. Without any knowledge and experience, I plunged into this exciting world of digital technology. I think it all happened here, because after more than 30 years later, IT is still my thing.

My interest in photography has never faded. My equipment now includes the Canon EOS 90D with the following Canon lenses: EF-S 18-135mm IS USM, EF 70-200mm f/4.0 L IS USM, EF 24-105mm F4.0 L IS USM and the EF 100MM F/2.8 L IS USM MACRO.

When I think about what I like about photography, I come to the conclusion that it is a combination of many factors. It’s the technique that goes with shooting and capturing an image, the patience and calmness I have to muster, besides overcoming fear in some situations. After all, being the center of attention with something or being nose to nose with insects is not always something one does for fun. At least, I don’t. Anyway, i believe it is important and necessary to be interated one’s environment in order to make a photo that reflects a certain mood. One that arouses the interest of the viewer.

My main interest lies in nature and landscape photography. I enjoy strolling through nature and seeing what I encounter on my path. I prefer to travel to distant places for this but that is not always possible. Fortunately, in Zeewolde, where I live, beautiful landscapes are only a stone throw away. I have the Oostvaardersplassen with its ‘wild’ animal life, the Stille Kern in the Horsterwold where Konik horses live; in freedom and where nature can take its course. Finally, the Leuvenum forests, which mainly consist of vast heaths, pine forests and shifting sands.

Throughout the years, I have managed to capture a number of images that I am proud of; that I feel ‘connected’ with. I hope you enjoy looking at my presentation here, a representation of my digital photography!
